Electrical FAQs

Why do my lights flicker throughout my home when my AC comes on?

This could indicate that you have a loose neutral connection at the main service or interior sub panel. We can inspect these areas, check and tighten all contact points to ensure proper connections. In some cases there may be a poor connection and the main service drop near the weather head or utility transformer or within the meter base.

What can be done about my high electrical bills?

We can do a complete diagnostic of your electrical system to include checking for loose connections, overheating or unbalanced loads, recommendations on installing LED lighting throughout your home and installing occupancy sensor switches to turn off lights when no one is in the room. Loose connections create heat and can cause your electrical system to work harder and break down electrical components.

My home inspector told me I do not have adequate GFCI protection what areas of my home need to be protected?

GFCI Protection is required in or near all wet or damp locations including garage’s, all exterior outlets, outdoor patios, Kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms.

Can I add recessed lighting to my home?

Recessed lighting can be installed to most areas of your home when there is adequate attic access. In areas where access is limited drywall cutting and repair may be necessary.

Is my electrical panel outdated and in need of replacement?

There are certain brands of electrical panels that your insurance company may not cover and will require replacement to ensure proper protection of your electrical branch circuits. This typically comes up in home inspection reports when you buy or sell your home.
