My AC Unit Isn’t Cooling
An AC unit that isn’t cooling is a major inconvenience. You can attempt to restore your system by checking for common issues. Start by confirming that your thermostat is working and set to COOL with a desired temperature lower than the current temperature.
The fan should also be set to AUTO. Then, check if your air filters need to be replaced or if the breaker is tripped. Finally, check the air handler to see if it’s frozen. If it’s cold and sweating, turn the system off for four to five hours to allow it to defrost.
One Room Is Warmer Than the Others
There are several reasons why one room in your home may be warmer than another. Temperature fluctuations can occur with reduced airflow, so confirm that your air filters aren’t clogged. You should also check that the supply-air and return-air grilles in the room are fully open and not blocked by furniture or decor.
For homeowners with zoned cooling systems, the issue could be the thermostat settings for that specific zone. However, there’s also a chance that the temperature issues aren’t AC-related. The excess heat could also be due to gaps in doors or direct sunlight coming through the windows.
